For over 120 years the Cottage has hosted people attracted to our location for its rejuvenating atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. Our 100 acres of forest contain a charming Victorian farmhouse, a new catering hall and multiple outbuilding.
While the design of the buildings has remained unchanged from 1895 freshly restored interiors interiors provide comfortable bedrooms, dining, and common areas to complement the forests and streams on the property.


If you want an outdoor ceremony, there are several places on the property which lend themselves to memorable events.  Many wedding couples love the Arbor, a charming outdoor location with a beautiful trellis overlooking the stream, forest and waterfall.  It provides shade on summer days and is a perfect place for guests to enjoy a cocktail before the reception. Forest clearings and the bridge over the waterfall are also beautiful locations.

Your entire event will have the mill pond and forest as a backdrop. Sounds from the waterfall at the dam provide a relaxing backdrop to picturesque views of woods and water. Each space is available for use during weddings and provides a unique setting for rehearsal dinners, cocktail parties, wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions and farewell brunches.

Whether you are planning a true elopement, a small affair for a few close friends or relatives, or a group of up to 175 people, we can accommodate you.  The Old Vic has four bedrooms, so the wedding party can stay comfortably on the property. Our new hall has a caterer’s kitchen and dining rooms that are flexible enough to handle indoor seated meals for 25 in our tavern or up to 140 in our main hall.. Our commercial kitchen and dining room can handle indoor seated formal meals for 25 at a single long table, or 40 for a less formal meal in multiple rooms.  Larger groups are best accommodated through a large tent on the lawn by the mill pond, which can have space for a dance floor and band as well as tables.


Whatever the vision for your event, fully realizing it requires orchestrating many elements: food, flowers, music, decorations, transportation, a photographer, the officiant, and a support team before and on the day of the wedding.  The Cottage in the Pines team has excellent relationships with local and New York City-based caterers and service providers, and we will work with you every step of the way to make sure your event is flawless. When you spend time in our guest rooms and common areas, you’ll note an attention to custom work and detail.  Hand painted tiles, local folk art, stenciled wall coverings, furniture built by local craftsmen from wood on our property are just some of the custom touches you and your guests will appreciate. However, these elegant touches don’t get in the way of the overall feel — this is a comfortable country setting, where the outdoors is always present, the woods are beckoning, and if someone wants to go for a quick dip in the pond or trail run, well, the opportunity is right out the door.


An easy weekend destination from New York or Philadelphia.


The Cottage is located two hours from NYC and Philadelphia and easily accessible by car or train. — an Uber will easily get you here (but it’s best if you arrange a car service back — just ask us for help).   Our proximity gives you great flexibility in planning your wedding — you can easily have a one-day event, with guests making a round-trip in a single day, or you can spread the party out over a long weekend — there’s plenty to keep people entertained, and they won’t spend much time traveling.
